Ezhou Huahu Airport was officially named by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
The airport is the first cargo hub airport in China. It is expected to function as an international air cargo hub, along with comprehensive hub airports in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
The runway in the airport is designed to handle 1.5 million passengers and 3.3 million tonnes of cargo in 2030.
The terminal area, transfer center are planned to achieve a passenger throughput of 1 million, with the cargo throughput reaching 2.45 million tonnes in 2025.（en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei）
