Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge, sited in Yichang, Hubei Province, announced its successful closureon January 18, which pushing up the number of closed and completed bridges over Yangtze River inthe province to 36.

The bridge,2.813 kilometers in length, started constructionin 2017and is expected to open to traffic in July this year.

The bridge is built in the core protection area of Chinese sturgeon, a wild creature under national protection. In order to protect the surrounding environment and rare creatures, Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge is designed to cross the Yangtze River with a main span of 1,160 meters, the first bridgeowning such a wide span the city. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
